What is Christmas really about ?

Christmas is a Christian festival that celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ, who Christians believe was the son of God. For most people, it takes place every year on 25 December – the day that the Roman Catholic Church chose to mark Jesus’ birthday. But, in fact, no one actually knows the exact date Jesus was born!

How can we have less of an impact
on the planet this Christmas?

Here are some super simple tips and tricks to

try this festive season ...

Take a look at our mini trail map and try to uncover the festive poem “Twas the Night Before Christmas” tucked away in three Christmas trees around town...

  • Look out for gifts that come with as little packaging as possible, or at least some you can recycle.

  • Quality not quantity! A family Secret Santa means you don't have to buy for everyone.

  • Opt for secondhand. If you're doing a Secret Santa, how about a rule that it has to be bought from a charity shop or a second-hand website!

  • Get creative for nature. You could make your very own wreath that’ll feed the birds as well as looking great!

  • Turn off your Christmas lights overnight and when you are out the house to save energy.
